Written for spn femslash week

Mary looked up at the falling snow. 

She was cold, only wearing her pajamas, feet clothed in slippers. She should head inside, where it was warm, a fire was waiting for her but she couldn’t make herself move. There were tears in her eyes, tears she had yet to let go. She was holding onto them, hoping the cold would freeze them before they could escape, but she knew as soon as she heard the crunching of feet, that she would be granted no such wish.

“I’m sorry.” A voice whispered in her ear and arms wrapped around her.

She thought about knocking them away, but they were warm and comforting, even if they caused tears to run down her cheeks. She knew she wouldn’t have long, that soon this would be all over, and she could blame no one for this, not even herself. Maybe fate…

“I wish there was another way, but there’s not.” The angel whispered in her ear, nuzzling the side of her neck… she was crying too. “I do love you, Mary. He’ll love you too.”

“I don’t want his love!” She shouted, turning around to face Anna, the tears falling faster. “I don’t want him…” She looked away. “I want you.”

The angel moved closer and pulled her close. “I know, Mary, I know… I wish… I wish it could be different.” Anna buried her face in Mary’s neck. “I want to be with you too, but it can’t be. I’m sorry, I’m sorry I did this too you.”

“Please…” Mary forced Anna to look at her. “There has to be a way…”

Anna looked back at her and Mary knew there wasn’t. She closed her eyes and let her angel kiss her for the last time.

“I love you.” Anna whispered and Mary quickly pulled away from her, thought’s fuzzy and confused. 

“Who are you?”

The girl just smiled and then she was gone.
